Job Summary
Set up and operate manual lathes to machine precision components for augers, feeder screws, and shafts. Read blueprints and engineering drawings, select tooling, and adjust machine settings to maintain close tolerances. Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment while troubleshooting machining and tooling issues. Edit machine programs and offsets to ensure quality and efficiency, completing production documentation accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while meeting production schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of manual lathe machining experience
- Experience performing complete machine setups with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, workholding, feeds, and speeds
- Ability to machine precision parts while maintaining close tolerances
- Strong mechanical aptitude
