Job Summary
The Machinist is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machinery to produce precision parts according to engineering specifications. This involves reading blueprints, performing measurements, ensuring quality and safety, and contributing to efficient production operations. The role requires experience with CNC equipment and skills in interpreting technical documents.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining preferred
- 2–5 years of experience operating and setting up CNC machinery
- Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Strong understanding of machining principles, speeds, feeds, and tooling selection
- Basic understanding of G-code and CNC program editing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or Mazak control systems
- Familiarity with horizontal milling, surface grinding, and band saw operation
- Experience in a custom machinery or job shop environment
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures for CNC machinery
