Job Summary
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precision measurement instruments and fabricate assemblies with machine tools such as saws, lathes, and milling machines. Align fixtures, cutting tools, and materials; monitor feed and speed to ensure proper performance and adjust setups as needed. Measure and examine completed products to verify they meet drawing and customer requirements while evaluating the process for hazards. Train and assist Machinist I and II. Perform minor adjustments on equipment and select appropriate tools for complex engineering drawings. Works in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and trade school diploma in Machining/Machining Science
- 7 - 9 years' work history in a machining environment
- Ability to read and machine product from complex engineering drawings
- Capable of controlling the operations of equipment or systems used to produce machined products
- Monitoring of gauges, dials and or other indicators to ensure proper machine operations
- Capable of using advanced mathematics and experience in machining to solve problems
- The ability to select the right tool for the job
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and can make program edits that are minor in nature
- Capable of producing products from engineering drawings
- Significant experience in the use of precision measurement instruments
- Significant knowledge of raw materials used in the machining industry
- Has the ability to train others
- Ability to inspect work area for any potential safety hazards prior to beginning operations
- Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces and sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs
- On occasion must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
