Job Summary
Machinist III operating CNC machines to fabricate parts and support development, prototyping, and production of AM and traditional manufacturing concepts. Responsibilities include planning machining from instructions, interpreting blueprints, setting up fixtures, selecting tools, monitoring feeds and speeds, and producing precision parts with close tolerances. Develop toolpaths and digital manufacturing plans using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam), maintain file traceability, and collaborate with R&D to mature additive manufacturing concepts (hybrid WAAM, LPBF) alongside traditional machining. Also involves leveraging hybrid AM technologies, post-processing of additively manufactured parts, and ensuring safety and compliance in a Lakehurst, NJ-based facility with four 10-hour on-site days (Mon–Thu) and potential overtime. Requires strong technical aptitude, problem-solving, and leadership potential, with a willingness to learn and implement advanced manufacturing technologies. The role supports a federal contractor environment with premium benefits and potential for additional overtime depending on workload.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years experience with CNC set-up and operation
- Experience operating manual and CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and prints
- MasterCam experience (preferred)
- Ability to operate AM equipment (Hybrid WAAM, LPBF, etc.)
- Ability to obtain operator certifications as required
