Job Summary
Machinist III operating CNC milling centers on day shift with 12-hour rotations (6:00am–6:30pm; 6 days on/6 days off cycle). Responsible for editing and troubleshooting CNC programs, setting up 3–5 axis mills/lathes, and training less experienced machinists. Performs machining on parts from aluminum, steel, stainless, bronze, and other metals per customer specifications, blueprints, and MIL-SPEC; ensures material is in accordance with job routers and tech data; verifies proper fixturing and tooling needs; adheres to safety procedures and uses PPE; conducts post-manufacturing inspection to meet quality standards; interprets drawings and procedures, and conducts troubleshooting and emergency repairs as needed. Must read and interpret safety rules, procedures, blueprints, and manufacturing instructions, and can convert measurements and perform basic to intermediate math. Works to meet production deadlines and supports a safe, clean work environment, assisting less experienced operators when required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, a trade school certificate or Equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years CNC machining experience or 1 year MasterCam programming experience with 4 additional years of CNC milling experience
- 7+ years of manual machining may supersede the minimum CNC experience
- Ability to set up a CNC center to perform machining on complex parts utilizing 3, 4, and 5 axis mills or lathes
- Must be able to edit CNC programs at the machine
- Must be able to hold tight tolerances with various metal types
- Ability to pass a drug and background screening
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
