Job Summary
Conduct precision machining and assembly on medium to large components using mills, lathes, boring mills, and grinders. Set up and operate vertical turning lathes, horizontal boring mills, and CNC equipment while reading engineering drawings and troubleshooting machine code. Develop or edit machining programs, design jigs and fixtures for non-standard processes, and solve complex mechanical problems with limited supervision. Operate overhead cranes safely and maintain a clean, efficient work environment adhering to ISO 9001 standards. Meet established standard job times while assisting and training team members in machining skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2–5 years of experience as a Machinist or 5–8 years of related mechanical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2–5 years of experience in CNC programming, including extensive training and hands-on experience
- Technical school training is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex machining and mechanical problems
- Above-average reading and math skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple and frequently changing priorities
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read and troubleshoot machine code and CNC programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Working knowledge of basic mathematics, including whole numbers and decimals
- Ability to apply trigonometric concepts used in machining
- The position requires regular standing and the use of hands, fingers, arms, and feet
- The employee may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and walk
- The position requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious locations, fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat, electrical hazards, vibration, and high noise levels
