Job Summary
Machinist II: Independently set up and operate CNC and manual lathes and mills, edit programs with guidance, design/machine fixtures and tooling, verify parts with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges) against engineering drawings (GD&T). Responsible for maintaining part accuracy, completing required documentation, performing routine maintenance per ISO standards, and upholding safety and 5S in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Emphasis on setup/run-time efficiency, process improvements, and adherence to quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year Certified Apprenticeship plus 2+ years of set-up experience, or 5+ years of set-up and operating experience required
- ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals)
- write routine reports and correspondence
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- calculate figures and amounts
- knowledge of the metric system or ability to learn
- basic computer skills
