Job Summary

Operate and program 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills, lathes, and routers while reading blueprints, GD&T, and orthographic drawings to machine aerospace materials like aluminum and titanium. Setup equipment, create DXF and GNH files, and validate finished workpieces using SPC inspection and ISO compliant documentation. Resolve machining issues by conferring with supervisors and engineers, manage time charging and vacation requests, and ensure strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) - Five (5)+ Years of working in a Machine/Fab Shop
  • Two (2) - Five (5)+ Years of experience in Aerospace (or related/transferrable field)
  • Ability to read and write g-code using CAM software as the machine controller
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and written work plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters
  • Ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of tooling, tool setting and offsetting, setting work offsets, and basic inspections
  • Ability to start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls
  • Ability to verify conformance of finished first article workpiece to specifications and conduct subsequent inspection of workpiece in accordance with the machine shop's statistical process control (SPC) inspection
  • Use of various measuring techniques used to validate conformance to requirements
  • Knowledge of hand deburr tools
  • Ability to confer with lead person, machine shop supervisor or others to resolve machining
  • Ability to adhere to all safety and security requirements
  • Effective interfacing with Engineers and Quality
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to code programs for new parts that come into the shop
  • Ability to create and correct DXF and GNH files in Enroute or Gravostyle software systems
  • Ability to create instructions for the setups
