Job Summary
Set-up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mill-turn machines to manufacture large components up to 10 feet long and weighing 6 tons. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements, then load programs and tools while verifying cutting speeds and feed rates. Monitor machine performance to detect tool wear or defects, adjust parameters as needed, and use micrometers and calipers to verify machined details against specifications. Collaborate with programmers and engineers to improve processes, maintain accurate job logs, and perform routine machine maintenance. Train and mentor other operators when necessary. Work flexible full-time shifts (40-55 hours) Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and coolant.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Technical degree in Machining preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 Years of CNC Machining Experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience operating multi-axis machines (4-axis, 5-axis, or mill-turn centers) is ideal
- Knowledge of CNC Machine operations and machine set-up
- Able to read and understand G-Code programming
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Experience using common inspection tools (calipers, tape measure, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators)
- Experience making tool offsets and minor program edits at the machine
- Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday – Friday, 10-hour days Monday – Thursday
- 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules
- Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 35 pounds occasionally
- Frequently bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, coolant, and metal chips
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Fanuc, Mazak, Siemens, Okuma, Haas, or Mitsubishi CNC Controls
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good teamwork and communication skills
