Job Summary
Prioritize safety by maintaining rigorous adherence to standards, identifying and addressing risks immediately. Set up and operate manual and numerically controlled machine tools including mills, drills, grinders, and lathes for complex machining operations. Select and grind tools based on material properties, utilize measuring devices, and use hand tools to assemble and disassemble turbine components. Follow methods and work instructions to ensure accuracy while approaching daily tasks with continuous improvement in mind. This full-time onsite role at our Chamblee, GA facility supports Steam Turbine Repair, with new hires starting on the 1st shift before transitioning to the 2nd shift after training.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in a Machining discipline
- Minimum of 1 year general machine shop experience in set-up and operation of a variety of manual and CNC machines
- High School Diploma/GED
- Machining certification from an accredited university
- Courses covering Mathematics
- Courses covering CNC Milling
- Courses covering CNC Lathes
- Courses covering Print Reading
- Courses covering Machine Tooling
- Courses covering G&M code
- Courses covering FANUC controls
- Courses covering hands on machine application
- High School Diploma / GED
- Journeyman's card
- Completion of a Machining apprentice program
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 25 lbs
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to maintain rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes
- 5-years' experience in Steam Turbine Repairs
- 3-years' experience in MasterCam and Verisurf
- Strong math skills to include trigonometry, algebra, etc.
- CNC, M and G code programming experience
- Large CNC lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM), or Large Vertical Boring Mill (VBM) experience
