Job Summary
Produce moderately complex to highly complex conventional machine components and tooling to precision tolerances. Inspect work of other machinists as directed by supervisor and train lower classification staff. Comply with plant work rules, regulations, and specific instructions while maintaining required records, logs, and documentation. Identify and escalate operations problems to the area foreman with objective resolution options. Properly handle hazardous materials and apply advanced knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tool operations, including programming and cutting parameters. Use shop inspection tools to interpret data and record measurements. Requires high school diploma, six years of related experience, and preferred journeyman's card. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience
Desired Qualifications
- Two-year machining technology certificate
- Completion of four-year apprenticeship
- Journeyman's card
- Possess mechanical aptitude
- Advanced knowledge of commonly use concepts, practices and procedures
- Excellent communication skills to comprehend, follow written and verbal direction
- Ability to properly plan, perform calculations, layout and select efficient cutting parameters for conventional machining of components/tooling
- Ability to use and interpret basis shop inspection tools and manually record data
- Good problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tool operations including application and programming
