Job Summary
Direct the daily operation of the mechanical maintenance department in a printing plant, ensuring effective mechanical maintenance programs and achieving production quality goals. Manage staff schedules and development while administering local labor agreements. Provide training, oversee hiring, and maintain accurate performance records. Collaborate with pressroom and mailroom management to enhance Production Quality Score, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing maintenance operation, preferably in newspaper or commercial printing operations
- Customer and bottom-line-driven qualities with a record of cost-efficient results
- Excellent knowledge of efficient and proactive maintenance programs in a continuous improvement environment
- Ability to diagnose problems quickly and implement remedies to keep production operations functioning
- Experience overseeing Millwrights, Mechanics, Machine shops, or other industrial repair categories
Desired Qualifications
- Strong leadership, initiative, decision-making, and staff development skills
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical or electronic expertise
