Job Summary
Set up and operate heavy-duty universal turning centers, including twin-turret machines with 15-inch chucks and 60-inch beds, to manufacture high-precision components. Create, edit, and prove out complex CNC programs using Fagor controllers, executing dry runs and first-piece verify-outs to guarantee part dimensions. Optimize feeds, speeds, and tooling to meet strict surface finish and tolerance requirements while minimizing material waste and re-work. Conduct thorough first-article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools, and perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment. Adhere strictly to safety standards and facility protocols, including proper PPE use, while transitioning between CNC and manual turning machines as job requirements dictate.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to handle large and heavy parts using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment
- Shop environment, exposed to shop elements
- May work in tight and/or cramped spaces
- Walking, standing, lifting, stooping, reaching
- Physical demand to make setups and perform machining operations
- Some lifting of various weights, both assisted and unassisted
- Use crane or other device for heavy lifting
- Must be authorized to work in the US
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in similar capacity
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Operate a variety of computer numeric control (CNC)
- Ability to read and edit G&M Code programming at the machine control as needed
- Check accuracy of work using precision measuring instruments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Teamwork and communication skills
