Job Summary
Machinist at Bombardier in Los Angeles performing machining operations (boring, drilling, milling, tapping, threading) on raw materials to meet engineering specifications and tolerances. Responsibilities include setting up machines and tools, developing/editing machining programs, monitoring feeds and spindle speeds, calibrating tool setters, deburring and finishing parts, and maintaining shop documents and blueprints. Requires ability to operate both mills and lathes (conventional and computerized), basic knowledge of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and the ability to design/build shop aids. The role notes hybrid work policy; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to verify quantities and material types and inspect against engineering documents
- Set up and verify cutting tools per machine requirements
- Develop and edit machining programs as required
- Operate and calibrate tool setters
- Experience with turning, boring, drilling, milling, tapping, and threading on raw material to meet engineering specs
- Familiarity with shop documents, blueprints, and tolerances
- Ability to deburr, cut, polish, blend, and finish machined parts
- Knowledge of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum properties for part fabrication
- Ability to operate mills and lathes (conventional and computerized)
- Ability to build/modify shop aids/tools to enhance operations
- Maintain documentation and tool wear monitoring
