Job Summary

Set up and operate standard machine tools and specialized equipment to make, modify, and rework parts and assemblies for advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems. Use measuring and hand tools to follow written procedures, blueprints, and repair manuals while performing repetitive lot work or single piece production. Assist higher-rated machinists by benching, inspecting, steam/cleaning, and grit blasting hardware to keep the repair process moving, then maintain associated paperwork and disposition records. Instruct and train others as required, and may be called upon to maintain or change routers. Work the 2nd shift with a wage of $39.58 per hour plus a 10% shift differential, lifting up to 40 pounds on occasion.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2 years' minimum experience within a structured training program (such as an apprentice program)
  • 2 years work experience as a skilled Machinist (i.e., VTL, VBM, Lathe, Bridgeport, Mills, Drills, Grinders, etc.)
  • At least 18 years of age by the time of joining
  • Ability to pass Machinist written and functional test
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to operate material handling and lifting devices
  • Basic use of computers, applications, and keyboarding (e.g. email, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment and wear appropriate safety gear such as eye protection and safety shoes for extended periods of time
  • Ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))
  • Successfully completion of a drug screen (as applicable)
  • Subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing

Desired Qualifications

  • Apprentice graduate
  • 10 years or more machinist experience
  • Experience with C.N.C. or N.C. or Robotic equipment
  • Experience monitoring multiple machines at the same time
  • Experience setting up and/or operating various hand and power tools and basic machine tools and equipment
  • Experience using shop math, including fraction and decimals, with working knowledge in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of precision measuring instruments instruments) with experience inspecting machined hardware
  • Experience in reading and interpreting technical documents, drawings, and standards
  • Knowledge of safety standards and safeguards
  • Experience in using CMM equipment
  • 1+ years aerospace machining experience
