Machining Quality Engineer

Job Summary

Oversee quality control for machined components by conducting root cause analysis of defects, implementing corrective actions, and utilizing advanced metrology tools like vision systems for part inspection. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize machining processes, design fixtures for assemblies, and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction. Maintain accurate quality documentation, provide training to production operators, and address customer concerns related to machined components while ensuring regulatory compliance with standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience in quality engineering or quality assurance roles within a machining or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of machining processes specifically with CNC lathes and screw machines
  • Proficiency in quality management systems, statistical analysis tools, and quality assurance methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate technical information to diverse audiences

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with quality documentation and compliance requirements, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100
  • SolidWorks or 3D CAD experience
  • Experience with vision systems
