Job Summary
Machining Process Engineer role focused on developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes for high-precision CNC machining. Responsibilities include programming multi-axis CNC equipment, creating tooling and fixtures, maintaining Bills of Materials and labor standards in ERP, mentoring junior engineers, analyzing variances for waste reduction, and ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety policies, and supplier development efforts. Requires 5–10 years in machining/manufacturing engineering, strong CAD/CAM (Mastercam, AutoCAD Inventor) proficiency, GD&T skills, a four-year engineering degree, and the ability to read complex blueprints and 3D models. Reports to the Engineering Manager and collaborates with design engineering and program management.
Required Qualifications
- Five to ten years of professional machining and manufacturing engineering experience
- Minimum five years CAD and CAM software experience, Mastercam and AutoCAD Inventor 3D modeling preferred
- Ability to read and interpret complex 2D blueprints and 3D models; working knowledge of GD&T
- Strong technical knowledge of manual and CNC machining equipment, specifically multi-axis programming
- Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving using statistical analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to train employees and implement change
- Four-year engineering degree, mechanical/aerospace/manufacturing engineering preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn Vericut software
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings and occupational medical exams
- Lift up to 40 lbs and endure prolonged periods on floor/standing
- Experience mentoring lower-level engineers and leading continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with ERP systems, BOMs, and labor standards
- Knowledge of EHS policies and PPE protocols
- Ability to develop tooling, fixtures, gages, and production equipment
- Experience analyzing manufacturing variances and waste reduction
