Job Summary
Machinery Service Technician/Mechanic role responsible for high-quality repairs on Caterpillar and allied equipment with minimal supervision. Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems using Cat diagnostic equipment and tooling; plan and organize multiple projects while controlling job costs. Communicate effectively with leads and peers, document diagnoses and repairs in service reports, and train customers on proper equipment use. Requires experience with Cat Interact/Servicelink, rigging, and blocking, and adherence to OSHA/MSHA rules. Mentorship of less experienced technicians and completion of assigned work within flat rate times are expected.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five to eight (5-8) years of experience in the repair of Caterpillar or other heavy equipment products
- Successful completion of Level One Technician program
- Ability to provide accurate information to lead/supervisor for quoting
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation
- Must be able to obtain a passing score for the crane qualification test performed by a qualified Hawthorne trainer for this position
- Must be able to pass the Lock Out / Tag Out & Forklift certification class provided by a qualified Hawthorne trainer for this position
- Possess basic computer knowledge and ability to use service software required in position
- Must have valid California Driver’s License with a clean record
- Shop Requirements: Valid California Class “C” driver’s license
- Field Requirements: Valid California Class “B” driver’s license, if assigned vehicle is required
- Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test and diagnose hydraulic, air, power train, electrical and electronic systems on Caterpillar equipment
