Job Summary
Oversee daily machine shop operations, supervising personnel, scheduling work, and coordinating machining for rotating equipment components like shafts, impellers, and casings. Review engineering drawings and repair procedures to ensure accuracy, monitor workflow and labor utilization, and enforce safety policies and quality standards. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost reduction, and on-time delivery while collaborating with Operations, Engineering, and Project Management. Requires 7+ years of machining experience in turbomachinery, leadership background, and proficiency in manual and CNC operations. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of machining experience in rotating equipment, turbomachinery, or industrial repair environments
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, repair procedures, and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances, fits, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and precision measuring equipment
- Proven ability to plan work, manage priorities, and lead multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
Desired Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience as a Machine Shop Lead, Foreman, Supervisor, or equivalent
- CNC machining knowledge
- Experience machining and repairing rotating equipment components, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, and gearboxes
- Technical school or machinist apprenticeship
- Experience with both manual and CNC machining operations
- Experience supervising machine shop scheduling, labor planning, and productivity metrics
- Familiarity with API standards and rotating equipment repair practices
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
