Job Summary
Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance on equipment including straighteners, cutting machinery, press brakes, and material handling systems. Set rollers to specified lengths, verify dimensions from shop drawings, and observe operation to ensure conformance with process sheets and blueprints. Maintain work area cleanliness, use an overhead crane to load and unload machinery, and read blueprints and flat sheets without assistance. Calculate simple mathematics for product preparation and setting up machinery. Adhere to all safety policies, wear required PPE, and lift up to 50 pounds in a non-temperature controlled environment. Work a weekend shift from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm, Friday through Sunday, with 36 hours worked paid for 40.
Required Qualifications
- The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
- The ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of an overhead crane
- The ability to read a tape measure
- The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
- The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
- High awareness for safety at all times
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility
- Read blueprints and specifications
- Maintain a safe and productive working environment
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment
- One (1) year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
