Job Summary
Set up, operate, and adjust machinery for the can-making process, including Extrusion Presses, Liner Machines, and Printers. Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling. Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and changeovers on manufacturing equipment while monitoring environmental factors like humidity and temperature. Conduct quality checks using calipers and micrometers to ensure can dimensions meet product specifications, recording findings and communicating defects to fellow operators. Stop or modify work processes for non-conformance or unsafe conditions, and report food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager. Maintain proper inventory levels and stack finished items. Requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to stand for long periods on a concrete floor. This role operates on a 2-2-3 schedule with every other weekend off.
Required Qualifications
- High-School Diploma
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Measuring skills using calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
- Quality control skills to detect variations and defects in dimensions, color, size, etc.
- Basic computer, data entry, and blueprint reading skills
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a team player and possess a 'can do' attitude
- Ability stand for long periods of time on concrete floor
- Minimum scores on aptitude test(s)
