Job Summary
Set up, operate, and tend manual and CNC machines to cut, shear, punch, crimp, bend, or straighten material while maintaining productivity and quality standards. Read blueprints and shop orders to determine setup methods, position clamps and guides, and adjust controls to regulate machining factors. Inspect parts using gauges and micrometers to verify conformance, resolve machine issues, and change inserts or dies as needed. Feed raw material to semi-automated machines, manually assemble parts, and prepare completed workpieces for shipment by boxing and labeling. Adhere to all safety requirements, maintain housekeeping, and meet daily productivity levels in a climate-controlled Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing plant. This role reports to the production supervisor and includes overtime and weekend work as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, G.E.D.
- one to three years manufacturing experience
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.)
- Understanding of production procedures
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to apply basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide
- Perform work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Must be aware and adhere to all company and departmental safety procedures and policies
- Ability to work on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts
- All candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older
- excellent knowledge of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking
