Job Summary
Set up and operate automatic leveling and sheeting equipment to level length and stack weigh flat sheets of various gauges to customer requirements. Work from customer orders, engineered layouts, and general instructions while inspecting material for quality conformance using measuring devices and drawings. Maintain safety and quality standards in line with company policies during the 1st shift. This role supports Olympic Steel's direct sale of processed metal products and branded items, fostering an inclusive workplace where employee belonging is foundational.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in full set up and operation of slitting machine- metal preferred
- Mechanically inclined, production-oriented and safety and quality conscious
- General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices
- Basic math skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under general supervision
- Detail-oriented with the ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices and drawings
- Functional literacy
- Previous experience with precision instruments preferred
Desired Qualifications
- High School or GED equivalent preferred
- Working knowledge of general computer programs preferred
