Job Summary
Machine Operator in the Silver Mill operates drawing and rolling equipment to produce wire and sheet products, uses precise measuring instruments for quality control, and sets up machines with close tolerances. Expected output is 1,500 oz of flat sheet and slit strip/bezel per week with a defect rate of 5% or less, maintaining backlog under 5 days. Responsibilities include daily attendance Mon-Fri 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, potential overtime, process reviews, meeting delivery targets, scanning and organizing jobs, inspecting products with magnification and precision instruments, ordering/storing materials, maintaining a clean work area, collaborating with coworkers, contributing to problem-solving, and completing safety training with PPE usage within an air-conditioned production environment. The role requires completing an extensive background check and drug screen, adherence to a metal-free dress code, and a company-wide commitment to safety and quality in a Lean manufacturing setting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of documented manufacturing experience
- Must be able to read measuring instruments (rulers, calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges) and perform simple math
- Basic computer skills for tracking jobs
- Good work ethic and punctuality
- Ability to read training materials and SOPs
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a short cycle, high-change environment
- Wears PPE and adheres to safety training and SDS requirements
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and perform standing/bending tasks as needed
