Job Summary
Operates specialized machines such as door router, stair router, welder, plate cutter, table saws, planer jointer and component cutter to perform routing, boring, rip and cross cuts, beveling, grooving, and mitering of lumber/wood stock; selects material, starts machines, positions stock against guides, verifies dimensions with ruler/caliper, writes labels on cut stock, and delivers finished pieces to appropriate location; maintains production counts and prepares cut inventory for future use; adheres to safety procedures and uses equipment including air nail guns, various saws, drills, planer/jointer, forklifts, and shaper tools. Education/experience requirement includes a high school diploma or GED plus 1 year of related millwork/construction experience (6 months machine experience), with potential CDL-A/B and forklift certification as applicable. Work environment described as loud with potential for heavy lifting up to 100 pounds, and a strong emphasis on quality and safety, with equal opportunity employer statements and accommodation options available.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-year prior experience and/or training in related millwork, construction or lumber industries
- 6 months prior experience working on machines and good mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of products and components used for mill production is essential
- Attention to quality, quantity and safety
- CDL A or B may be required
- Forklift Certification may be required
