Job Summary
Cut steel using saw or shear and record all pieces on cut sheets to verify inventory usage. Operate an overhead crane within OSHA safety guidelines to transport steel and mark, sort, and organize cut pieces according to drawings. Maintain neat overflow inventory racks and perform preventative maintenance on production equipment. Learn to read cut sheets and gather sheets for correct cutting information while wearing proper safety equipment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and read a tape measure. May be assigned facilities maintenance duties and improvement projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three months or more related experience and/or training in either structural steel, carpentry, masonry or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to read a tape measure
