Job Summary
Machine Operator role responsible for setting up/operating conventional or automatic machining equipment, reading blueprints and specifications to determine tolerances, inspecting finished parts for quality, maintaining production documentation (error checklists, 5-min checks, shift logs), and participating in continuous improvement efforts. Requires ability to read drawings, use precision measurement tools (micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators), apply shop math and material/layout knowledge, ensure safety (SOS) and quality process controls, and communicate findings across departments. Experience 2–4 years preferred; high school graduate or equivalent required. Company offers competitive compensation and benefits; equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Two to four years of Machine Operator experience (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators) for quality checks
- Ability to learn new specifications and procedures on the job
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Flexibility to learn and assist in other areas of the factory
- Interpret machine operations and gages to ensure proper machine operation
- Promote positive employee and company culture
- Complete all provided training prior to on-the-job training
- Prior experience with quality documentation and lean/safety initiatives
- Ability to collaborate with continuous improvement teams
- Demonstrated ability to document shift logs and I+R entries
