Job Summary
Set up and operate advanced manufacturing equipment including Fanuc and Allen Bradley 4-axis milling machines, grinders, polishers, and robotic systems. Perform complex, non-routine setups and changeovers to meet tight tolerances while monitoring machine performance for mechanical or program adjustments. Conduct quality inspections and audits using precision measuring tools, troubleshoot issues, and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity. Support and train team members while adhering to OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout, and hazardous material handling protocols. This role requires 3+ years of machining experience and is located at Leatherman Tool Group's Portland facility.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 3+ years of machining or technical manufacturing experience
- Experience with advanced machine setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of CNC machining and/or robotic systems
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation
- Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Basic shop math and computer skills
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, SPC, or CMM/Keyence systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and solve complex problems
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Willingness to support and mentor others
