Job Summary
Operates specialized machines such as door router, stair router, welder, plate cutter, table saws, planer jointer and component cutter to perform routing, boring, rip sawing, cross cutting, beveling, grooving, and mitering of lumber/wood stock. Provides training and work direction to other machine operators; plans and assigns tasks to meet production goals; oversees efficiency and output, and ensures safety and quality in mill production. Performs equipment setup, material selection, measuring and labeling, and trains new assembler employees in tasks and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- plus 1-year prior experience and/or training in related millwork, construction or lumber industries
- 12 months prior experience working on machines and good mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of products and components used for mill production
- Attention to quality, quantity and safety
- CDL A or B may be required
- Forklift Certification may be required
