Job Summary
Machine Operator III in the Staves Department in Hartselle, AL. Responsible for setting up and operating multiple pieces of equipment in a one-piece flow process to machine Wood Reels used to package wire and cable. Duties include troubleshooting assigned machines, performing Operator Maintenance and preventive maintenance, assessing manufacturing schedules to minimize waste and maximize throughput, developing and executing production plans to meet goals, and maintaining safety, quality, and 5S housekeeping. Requires familiarity with industrial equipment such as saws, routers, nailers, spindles, scanners, stackers, conveying equipment, and knowledge of electronic sensors, pneumatics, HMI, and cycle-time optimization. Must work 2nd shift (2-10p) with potential overtime; lift up to 50 lbs; strong communication and ability to work with safety, quality, maintenance, and management teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1-year of machine operating and setup experience in an industrial environment.
- Fundamental technical knowledge of electronic sensors, pneumatics, HMI, mathematics, and optimization of cycle time.
- Extensive knowledge of personal hand tools and use them safely to set up, adjust, and maintain production equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, work well independently, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
