Machine Operator I

Job Summary
Set up and operate fabricating machines including laser, cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, and punch machines to cut and bend metal plates, sheets, and structures. Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure accurate part cutting and inspection. Load material, use hand tools and measuring equipment, and perform preventative maintenance while completing necessary paperwork. Assist Machine Operator II when needed and report on supply levels. This role requires 1 year of manufacturing experience and operating fabricating machinery, with a preference for equipment programming skills. Work onsite in a plant environment with potential exposure to weather, heat, and noise.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1 year experience operating fabricating machinery
- Read a tape measure and ruler and convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to use both hands overhead
- Perform repetitive motions
- Manufacturing environment requires use of required Personal Protective Equipment, such as foot, eye and ear protection when in production locations
- Lifting up to 100 pounds; 100+ pounds with assistance
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, working at heights, and using a ladder as required
- The employee will be required to stand and walk for at least 8 hours
- Regularly be required to push/pull material up to 3000lbs, with assistance of overhead crane
- Climb stairs, reach and bend regularly
- Occasionally sit, grasp, climb, crawl, twist, and work at heights
- Occasionally lift, hold and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noise
Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years' experience programming equipment (Laser or brake)
- Meet all product quality requirements
- Ability to use precision hand tools
- Spot welding
