Job Summary
Operate fiber draw towers from a basket lift to convert glass preforms into optical fiber while monitoring furnace temperature, draw speed, and tension. Perform real-time diameter and concentricity measurements, apply UV coatings, and conduct quality inspections against Coherent specifications. Handle preforms safely, troubleshoot process deviations, and execute preventive maintenance on draw tower systems. Document production data and collaborate with engineering teams for continuous improvement while adhering to all EHS and ISO standards. Requires 5+ years in precision manufacturing; willing to work day, night, and weekend shifts in a high-temperature industrial environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience in a precision environment
- Ability to operate automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Willingness to work shifts including nights and weekends
