Machine Operator - Extruder 1 1/4'' Weekend Shift

Job Summary
Sets up, runs, and monitors a 1 1/4” extrusion line to manufacture fiber optic cable. Reads setup sheets to determine product, machine adjustments, and material requirements; observes and inspects products at various stages; completes documentation; cleans equipment; identifies defects and assists in problem resolution; follows safety procedures and promotes quality and service excellence. Requires mechanical aptitude, ability to read instructions, measure and document accurately, work in a team, and lift up to 50 pounds. Schedule is 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday with some flexibility; 33 hours/week with full-time benefits. Location: Roanoke, VA.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Six months of related experience and/or training preferred
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and follow basic instructions
- Ability to understand and implement quality procedures
- Math and handwriting skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Color vision and hearing sufficient for job duties
- Ability to work in a production environment with safety awareness
