Machine Operator - Blanching

Job Summary
Setup and offset machines, including mills, lathes, grinders, and shapers, by studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials while calculating and setting controls for feed, speed, depth, and angle. Verify conformance of finished workpieces to engineering prints and check machinery daily for functionality. Monitor feeds and speeds during machining, measure completed tools with micrometers and calipers to detect defects, and perform required setup adjustments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year machine shop experience
- Strong math skills
- Ability to accurately read blueprints
- Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances
- Ability to set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools
- Ability to monitor feeds and speeds of machines
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stoop, bend or kneel when required
- Ability to perform prolonged periods of standing
Desired Qualifications
- Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining
- Experience with Blanching Machines
