Job Summary
Locate buried facilities near the route of service wire using appropriate equipment and perform manual excavation with a shovel. Operate a company vehicle with trailer and machinery, including manually controlled gasoline or diesel-powered trenchers, plows, or boring machines. Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities, sprinkler systems, and sewage field lines, while coordinating work activities with customers, local utilities, and government agencies. Perform periodic maintenance and non-complex repairs to equipment used in these responsibilities. Follow established safety practices and procedures, including the manufacturer's specifications for operation. Use computers and hand-held devices to update work status and check new assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Desire to work Monday through Friday with a shift length of 8hrs
- Ability to work mandatory overtime and holidays as service conditions require
- Eager to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions
- Able to utilize various types of machines and tools
- Lift and move objects up to 120 pounds
- Use computers including hand-held devices to update work status and check new assignments
- Light commercial driver's license or equivalent required, depending on state law and be able to drive manual shift in some assignments
- Attain and maintain a DOT medical card
- Demonstrate competency in the training requirements during probationary period to satisfy qualification achievement
- Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable
