Job Summary
Define technical vision and roadmap for Feed Retrieval, aligning recommender-system investments with product and business objectives. Translate broad goals into prioritized tradeoffs across model quality, inventory expansion, and operational reliability. Oversee design and optimization of retrieval systems that source relevant, diverse, and high-quality candidates for personalized feeds. Establish measurement practices to track retrieval quality, candidate coverage, and downstream impact. Collaborate with ML platform, infrastructure, ranking, and product teams to build scalable, low-latency systems supporting over 120M daily users. Coach team members to grow skills and impact while recruiting diverse machine learning engineers. Maintain high standards for system performance, reliability, latency, and responsible recommendation practices.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing ML or recommender-systems teams
- Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML systems
- Experience with recommender systems
- Experience with retrieval models
- Experience with embedding-based systems
- Experience with sequence models
- Experience with transformer-based architectures
- Experience with LLM-powered recommendation applications
- Strong understanding of recommender systems
- Strong understanding of candidate retrieval
