Machine Excellence Diagnostic Specialist- 2nd Shift

Job Summary

Conduct proactive diagnostic inspections on machine tools using API 6D lasers, Renishaw ball bars, and electronic levels to diagnose conditions, correct geometrical accuracy, and ensure B5.54 compliance. Assist the maintenance team in troubleshooting electrical or mechanical problems and interpret CMM reports to achieve quality improvements across various domestic and foreign equipment. Create and manipulate electronic spreadsheets to chart results while reading machine tool prints and working with tight tolerances. Work at heights and in confined spaces, potentially traveling and working overtime to support production goals.

Required Qualifications

  • successfully completed an approved skilled trades apprenticeship program
  • minimum of three years of experience in the lasering and/or alignment of machine tools and related equipment
  • ability to work at heights
  • ability to work in confined spaces
  • willingness to work large amounts of overtime
  • ability to work at heights, climb ladders, work underground, and in confined spaces
  • ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, and technical environment
  • ability to lift 40 pounds
  • willingness to travel as needed
  • ability to work necessary overtime to complete projects and assignments
  • ability to work 2nd shift (3:30pm-11:30pm)
  • ability to spend time on 1st and or 3rd shift for training and to support customer requirements
  • ability to work 40-hour work weeks
  • ability to complete a drug screen
  • experience in utilizing API 6D laser
  • experience in utilizing API & Leica tracker laser
  • experience in utilizing Hamar laser
  • experience in utilizing Renishaw ball-bar
  • experience in utilizing electronic levels
  • experience in utilizing API spindle analyzer
  • ability to create, manipulate, and chart using electronic spreadsheets
  • ability to read and understand machine tool prints
  • ability to interpret CMM reports
  • ability to work with tight tolerances
  • thorough understanding of leveling and alignment of machines
  • thorough understanding of machine tool controls
  • thorough understanding of control functions
  • thorough understanding of machine tool offsets
  • thorough understanding of compensations
  • thorough understanding of basic programming
  • ability to diagnose machine tool conditions
  • ability to perform proactive diagnostic inspections on machine tools
  • ability to assist in supporting the maintenance team to troubleshoot electrical or mechanical problems
  • ability to correct or improve geometrical accuracy and dimensional tolerances on equipment to comply with B5.54 methods
  • ability to assist in the geometrical tolerancing and B5.54 compliance testing for new machine tool purchases
  • ability to work on DMG, G&L, Mazak, Lamb, Landis (grinders), Waldrich Coburg, Ingersoll, Toyoda, Niles and a variety of others in the machine shop
