Job Summary

Triage patients, take medical histories, and perform point-of-care and phlebotomy testing while assisting providers with examinations, treatments, and procedures. Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis, administer medications using the six rights, and prepare examination rooms by sterilizing instruments and cleaning equipment per policy. Manage patient records by documenting visits, posting results, and notifying patients of follow-ups, while responding to incoming calls and referring appropriate inquiries. Ensure infection control compliance, maintain accurate EMR documentation, and stock exam rooms with necessary supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • one year of experience in a MA position
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Willingness to attend continuing medical education courses at the employer's request
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care
  • Skill in applying and modifying professional nursing principles, methods, and techniques to provide patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer care
  • Perception to observe pertinent detail when reading thermometers, blood pressure devices, and other equipment gauges and to observe the patient's condition
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to interpret tests
  • Strong positive interpersonal skills
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing
  • High degree of initiative and sense of organization
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
