Job Summary
The Intake Clerk primarily functions as the Intake Registration Clerk for the oncology department while also serving as a backup medical assistant. Responsibilities include cashiering, telephone operation, and health information clerical tasks. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, three years of experience in patient registration, and completion of a medical assistant program with an approved certificate. Knowledge of medical terminology and a basic understanding of common diagnostic tests is essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience of three years in a patient registration environment
- Completion of a medical assistant program that results in an approved medical assistant certificate
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic understanding of common diagnostic tests (e.g. CBC, CMP, U.A)
- Understanding of service authorizations (e.g. TARS, Medi-Care, Medi-Cal Managed Care, PPO, HMO)
