Job Summary
Special Education Instructional Assistant (Full Time) supports teachers and staff in a Special Education classroom. Responsibilities include preparing and setting up materials, providing instructional and behavioral support, maintaining daily activity logs, collecting educational and behavioral data, implementing positive behavior support plans, adapting activities for student learning objectives, guiding independent study, supervising during meals, drills, field trips, and transitions, providing 1:1 support as needed, assisting with personal care tasks, and helping implement therapy programs developed by therapists and staff. Requires two years of college (or PA para-educator testing), GSuite proficiency, strong communication skills, ability to evaluate problems and prioritize work, and valid PA school clearances. Ten-month contract with terms determined by the Board of Trustees.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of college or satisfactory completion of PA DOE testing for para-educators
- Knowledge of GSuite Applications
- Ability to facilitate communication among coworkers and students
- Evaluate problems, prioritize work and determine solutions
- Valid Pennsylvania school clearances
- Experience supporting special education students in instructional settings
- 20 hours annual professional development
- Contract term: 10 months; salary to be determined by Board of Trustees
