Job Summary
Direct and coordinate activities of aides while performing basic daily nursing functions. Administer proper medications and provide the nursing needs of residents in an efficient, economical, and caring manner. Maintain high standards and quality care during night shifts from 6p-6a. Recognize behavior deviations, cope with emergencies calmly, and communicate professionally with chronically ill aged. Requires current Texas LVN license and accredited vocational school graduation.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited vocational school of nursing
- Current Texas LVN license
- Ability to recognize behavior deviations from the norm
- Ability to cope with all emergencies in a calm manner
- Ability to deal comfortably with chronically ill aged
- Ability to communicate professionally, respectfully and tactfully in all situations
Desired Qualifications
- Training or experience in geriatric nursing
- Training or experience in psychiatric nursing
- Training or experience in medical/surgical nursing
- Knowledgeable of human development, including the processes of aging
- Knowledgeable of social and health problems confronting older persons
