Job Summary
Obtain medical history, vital signs, and patient intake; prioritize care and perform procedures including venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary catheterization. Administer oral, rectal, IM, and IV medications while assisting the physician with total patient care under direct supervision. Maintain exam room supplies, instruments, and sterilization tools; perform monthly quality control checks and lab testing. Respond to patient emergencies, assist with positioning during x-rays, and improve urgent care flow through efficiency metrics. Adhere to safety protocols, HIPAA regulations, and policies while maintaining confidential patient information.
Required Qualifications
- Pediatric experience
- Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience
- Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from the state you reside
- Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures (not limited to IV placement, urinary straight catheterization, and medication administration)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Knowledge of medical practice and terminology, clinic's processes, and procedures
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
- Skill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric population
- Ability to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calm in emergencies
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverbally
