Job Summary
The Licensed Vocational Nurse III (LVN III) ensures high-quality therapeutic patient care under the direction of Registered Nurses or providers. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, and support for minor clinical procedures and first aid. The role requires competencies in patient education, scheduling, documentation, and compliance with health care protocols. Key qualifications include a high school diploma, completion of a vocational nursing program, and a valid California LVN license, among others. Preferred experience in mentoring staff is also noted.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Specialized/technical training
- Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing Program
- 5 years Experience in a surgical care, acute care or ambulatory care setting
- Experience in a specialty area
- Ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Internet usage
- Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information
- Able to make decisions effectively with appropriate stakeholder input
Desired Qualifications
- Experience mentoring and training LVNs and other staff
Additional Requirements
- Must obtain Fire Life Safety Training within 30 days of hire (LA City only)
- If new hire, must obtain Keck Program Preceptor Certification within 90 days/next class
