Job Summary
Provide direct patient care, including taking histories, obtaining vital signs, administering medications, and performing EKGs. Escort patients to exam rooms, triage patients in person and over the telephone, and schedule diagnostic tests ordered by the physician. Monitor patient conditions, notify the physician as needed, and perform first aid and CPR if required. Assist medical personnel with minor clinical procedures, exams, and treatments while maintaining patient privacy and infection control standards. Manage administrative duties such as preparing charts, entering charges, handling phone calls, and organizing pharmacy refill requests.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Specialized/technical training
- Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing Program
- 3 years Experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting
- Ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word as well as Internet access and utilization
- Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information
- Able to make decisions effectively and with appropriate stakeholder input
- Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN (CA DCA)
- Valid California Vocational Nursing license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City)
- LVN - Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA)
- Keck Program Preceptor Certification
