Job Summary
Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the Registered Nurse and perform complete physical assessments and medical history reviews. Provide nursing care within your capacity, administer prescribed medications securely while preventing drug hoarding, and refer medical problems to physicians. Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, reporting issues to management while documenting all detainee contacts and maintaining confidential medical records. Adhere to industry and company accreditation policies. Requires a current LVN license, two years of direct work experience preferred, and competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, and psychiatric nursing care. Must be a US citizen, at least 21 years old, and able to work without direct supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state the facility is located
- Competence in crisis intervention
- Competence in medical emergencies
- Competence in physical assessment
- Competence in medical nursing care
- Competence in psychiatric nursing care
- Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis
- Ability to provide appropriate follow through treatment
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
- At least twenty-one (21) years of age
- United States citizen
