Job Summary
Support meal preparation, service, and delivery by reading recipes, operating kitchen equipment, and cooking therapeutic diets including thickened liquids and modified-texture meals. Take orders, serve food, and assist residents with menu selections while ensuring dietary compliance and honoring personal preferences. Maintain cleanliness by inspecting and sanitizing workstations, equipment, and service areas, and conduct taste tests to support food quality. Communicate dietary changes, admissions, or discharges promptly, answer phones, and relay messages accurately. Promote a positive dining environment by fostering cooperative relationships with coworkers and other departments while adhering to strict healthcare regulations and patient privacy requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent or current enrollment in high school
- Physically able to move throughout the workday and lift items up to 35 pounds using safe handling practices
- Complies with organizational health and safety requirements, including vaccination policies or valid exemptions
- Must adhere to strict healthcare regulations, infection control protocols, and patient privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA)
- Must be available for varying weekdays and participation in an every-other-weekend rotation
- Scheduled hours may be either 3:30pm–7:30pm or 6:30am–2:30pm, depending on departmental needs
Desired Qualifications
- At least 1 year experience in hospital, restaurant, or continuing care retirement community (CCRC) preferred
