Job Summary
Greet customers and professional contractors, then load materials into vehicles after validating type and quantity against point-of-sale records. Unload incoming freight carefully and operate a forklift to merchandise and stock the yard and warehouse. Accurately build loads for delivery, assist truck drivers in unloading shingles, drywall, lumber, and millwork, and respond to inquiries regarding product selection, pricing, and delivery scheduling. Maintain inventory, product displays, and pricing labels while enforcing all safety rules and policies. Perform other assigned duties as requested by the Yard Manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- An acceptable driving record, valid state issued driver's license (Missouri locations require a Class E license)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Successful applicants are subject to pre-employment drug testing, pre-employment background check and driver history checks in accordance with applicable federal and state law
- The physical demand of the position requires an individual to have the ability to bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and be able to frequently lift and/or move between 50 - 100 pounds
- Must be able to work and tolerate adverse weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Forklift experience preferred in many of the tasks
- 1 year of prior related work experience preferred
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) when dealing with vendors, customers, management, and team members
- Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out simple one or two-step instructions
- Ability to provide professional customer service and work in a team-oriented environment
