Job Summary
Lumber Yard Associate responsibilities include safely and efficiently loading customer vehicles with orders of building materials using both hands and a forklift, keeping the yard clean, stocking inventory, and providing legendary service to customers. The role requires knowledge of receiving/inventory control, dimension lumber and panel products, reading paperwork such as tickets and invoices, and adherence to safety protocols. The position operates outdoors in a retail lumberyard, involves daily lift tasks (up to 90 lbs), and requires forklift operation, strong customer service, and ability to follow procedures and participate in safety and training activities.
Required Qualifications
- OSHA Certified Forklift License preferred
- Ability to speak, write, and read English
- Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles
- Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products
- Ability to read and interpret picking tickets and invoices
- Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment
- Read and follow instructions on picking tickets
- Understand weight, height, and length limits to inform customers
