Job Summary
The Operations Float coordinates loads, drivers, deliveries and pickups within the assigned service area, while supporting all dispatch and administrative functions at the terminal. Responsibilities include using dispatch systems to plan, monitor, and complete moves in real time; maintaining delivery schedules across North America; coordinating with Freight Specialists to maximize freight on the trailer and organize outbound operations; consulting with dock personnel on equipment and load requirements; handling driver and customer inquiries with high-quality service; ensuring timely and economical movement of freight through ongoing communication with dispatch and traffic personnel; covering dispatch and administrative tasks such as Check-In, Routing, OSD, Appointments, Reception, and Customer Service; creating Relay Codes to drivers; tracking drivers to ensure on-time delivery and communicating delays; using Orbcomm to verify temperature accuracy; responding to ISAAC messages.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience with computer-based dispatch systems (transportation industry preferred).
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support customer service and collaboration.
- Ability to direct drivers in a professional, positive manner.
