Job Summary
Hands-on Cybersecurity Engineer focused on Akamai Web Application Firewall (WAF) operations. The role acts as the technical lead for Akamai services, supports onboarding of new systems onto Akamai, and participates in security feature rollouts (antimalware scanning, AI Firewall, API Security). Responsibilities include tuning policies, conducting impact assessments, producing operational reports and security metrics, coordinating with project teams and vendors, maintaining runbooks and SOPs, and ensuring timely follow-up on security incidents and alerts. Must have 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably with Akamai, and be capable of working in the Singapore Public Service on a 1-year temporary contract.
Required Qualifications
- 2-4 years hands-on cybersecurity operations experience or web application security
- Direct experience with Akamai products strongly preferred; equivalent experience with WAF/CDN platforms (Cloudflare, Imperva, or F5) considered
- Knowledge of web application security concepts including OWASP Top 10 and attack patterns (SQLi, XSS, CSRF)
- Understanding of how WAF rules are structured to detect and mitigate threats
- Familiarity with API security principles and API gateways integrated with WAFs
- Experience with log analysis and data extraction; proficiency in Python or Bash for automation and data processing is an asset
- Experience with incident management processes, including timeline documentation, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews
- Self-starter with ability to work independently, manage workload with minimal supervision, and communicate professionally with stakeholders and vendors
